Hey everyone! Your lovely queen is back, and I have some random tips and tricks that you probably never knew! Most of them were things that I've pinned on by Pinterest Board...and you can follow me on Pinterest by clicking here.
So, here are 14 random tips and tricks that seem silly, but can make your life a lot easier...and if you follow me on Pinteret, I'm bound to pin more! (Some of these tips I have tried, some I haven't...yet! The ones in blue means I've tried them...and swear by them!) And if you hit the "Don't Believe Me?" Button...you'll see where it'll take you. ;-)
1. Using baby oil instead of shaving cream helps your razor last longer and gives you a closer, smoother shave. Don't believe me?
2. If you spray PAM on your wet nails and then wiping it off completely dries the nail polish. Don't believe me?
3. Chewing a couple of Altoids (painful, but possible!) immediately clears a stuffy nose. Don't believe me?
3. Putting a dryer sheet in your pocket wards away mosquitoes. Don't believe me?

5. Sniffing coffee crystals can clear and refresh your nose of anything else you've smelled lately.
6. Dotting honey on a blemish and placing a bandage on it overnight will disinfect the pimple and speed up the healing process overnight. Don't believe me?
7. Dotting toothpaste on a breakout spot and leaving it there for a few hours can speed up the healing process and reduce redness.
8. Soaking a cotton ball in vinegar and applying it to a bruised area for about an hour can actually speed up the healing process of the bruise. Don't believe me?
9. Brushing your teeth with a baking soda and water mixture once a week will whiten your teeth. Don't believe me?
10. Adding baking soda to the water when you hard boil eggs...it makes the shell peel off easier! Don't believe me?
11. Believe it or not, there IS a method to putting your headphones away and not getting them tangled! Click here to see.
12. Using rubber bands on clothes hangers will keep the wide-topped shirts from falling. Don't believe me?
13. Vegetable oil adds shine to leather shoes. Don't believe me?
14. Drinking more water keeps your lips chapped less.

Christmas is Coming!
In case it wasn't obvious...YES, I am one of those crazy Christmas fanatics! :D Exactly one month from today is Christmas Day, which gets me super excited (although I favor Christmas Eve).
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Okay. Well, I don't really have a specific topic to blog about today. I'm just super excited for Christmas. So I'm going to do the "Holly Jolly Holiday Tag", inspired by HauteBrilliance on YouTube. So let's go! :)
1. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait until the last minute?
I start on Black Friday, but usually finish a few days before Christmas Eve.
2. If you could be in any Christmas movie what would it be?
A Year Without a Santa Claus. I love that movie. :'-)
3. Which do you like better: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Christmas Eve! Because everyone is all excited for Santa and Christmas Day :)
4. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?
Usually the first or second week of December.
5. White lights or colored lights?
Colored! We could all use a little color in our lives! :-)
6. Are you guilty of peeking at your presents or do you like the surprise?
HAHA nope. I like surprises, but my parents are good at hiding things.
7. Would you rather live in a gingerbread house or in Santa's Workshop?
Gingerbread house! I love the smell...and all the candy! :D
8. Tell us your Christmas Eve traditions!
We usually go to my grandma's house every Christmas Eve, but my cousin just got married and moved into her new apartment, so Christmas Eve is going to be there! Cool way to get used to her new home, huh?
9. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone who would it be?
Let's just say that when I read this question, a certain blonde Australian boy popped into mind.
10. What tops your tree?
Usually a star...but it's kinda dented from the 3,000+ times I've dropped it because I'm too short to reach the tree top, even on the stepladder.
11. Can you name the 12 days of Christmas?
Of course. :) But my laziness wins this round.
12. Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAH no. I hate singing in public.
13. Do you countdown to Christmas? If so, how many days are left?
Yeah, and today is exactly one month until Christmas Day! :D
14. What are some foods and treats you can count on having every holiday season?
Yumm<3 Stuffed artichokes.
15. How has Christmas kept its magic for you as you've grown older?
Laugh all you want...I'm fourteen years old and I still believe in Santa Claus. Is that a problem? Because I sure don't think it is. :-)
16. Favorite Winter Nail Polish?
No specifics, but I really love dark, sparkly blues for winter :D
17. Favorite Winter lip product?
Chapstick. Yeah, in the wintertime, Chapstick becomes my best friend.

23. Favorite Christmas/Holiday song?
Rob Thomas' "A New York Christmas"
24. Favorite Holiday food/treat?
Stuffed artichokes :D
25. What is your favorite Christmas Decoration this year?
I love Christmas trees<3
26. What's at the top of your Christmas list?
VIP Passes to a Cody Simpson concert. (I'm not joking.) Also an iPhone. But I strongly think that Santa Claus and my parents will both read the list and go "HAHAHAHHAH next joke please."
27. What are your plans for the holidays this year?
Like I said, we're going to my cousins' house for Christmas Eve, and my other cousins' house for Christmas Day! :) New Years is ALWAYS (literally always) spent with my best friend, Victoria<3
Well, if you'll excuse me, I have annoying AP Biology homework to do, and Christmas to obsess over!
Quick question...who else is doing the #DecemberPhotoChallenge on Instagram? ;-)

Book Review: The Notebook
Surprise! You lovely people get two blog entries today. (;
So, Alli Simpson was reading The Notebook, so I decided to read it, too. (Are you noticing a trend here? I think I mentioned before that I only read The Perks of Being a Wallflower because she did.) So I just finished it today, and here's my review. :)
So, this book was absolutely heart-melting and touching. *Sigh* I wish I had a love like Allie and Noah.
So the story is about a guy named Noah and a girl named Allie (Obviously). Allie came to Noah's hometown of New Bern for the summer when she was a teenager, met Noah, and they fell in love.
However, Allie's parents didn't approve of Noah. So when it was time to leave at the end of the summer, Allie went with them.
Fast-forward to fourteen years later. Noah still missed Allie everyday. He owned an old plantation house, and since he spent so much money fixing it, it made it into the newspaper. Allie, where she lives, sees the paper and recognizes the house. She feels compelled to go back and see her first love again.
So Allie goes back and sees Noah, and remembers every feeling that she's felt for him since the time they first met fourteen years ago.
The only problem?
She's engaged.
So, she ultimately has to choose: Noah, or her fiance, Lon?
Read it and find out!
I absolutely loved this book. It was pretty confusing in the beginning, since a majority of the book is a flashback, so the beginning seems to throw you off a little. But I think Allie and Noah's love is absolutely adorable, and it makes me sad too. :(
Well now that I'm in a depressed mood..

Happy Thanksgiving!
I meant to post this yesterday, but I was so busy eating food and having fun. (: And, typically, now I have a huge stomachache and I'm tired.
Happy Black Friday! I absolutely LOVE shopping, so I'm probably going to get a head start on getting Christmas gifts later today.
Now, before I say what I was thankful for, I'd like you to know that CODY SIMPSON SANG #WISHUWEREHERE ON THE BUILD A BEAR FLOAT YESTERDAY. It was absolutely amazing and I was crying and shaking and so proud and excited. Click here to see his performance!
Okay. So now I'm going to list 10 things that I'm thankful for. Of course there's more, but I'm going to narrow it down to 10:
♥ My family
♥ My health
♥ My friends! I made a video for all of my lovely friends<3 Click here to watch.
♥ Cody Simpson<3
♥ Food! I love food so much. :D (Is it bad that I just admitted that over a public website? Oh well.)
♥ Dance. I love dance; just the way you're able to express yourself and
♥ My best friend in the whole wide world, Victoria <33 I can honestly say that we're more like sisters than anything else. (I mean, I was there when she was BORN. We're exactly 8 months and 28 days apart.)
♥ My lovely little blogger minions--uh, friends. ;D Jason, Amber, Haley, Toni, Sam, Anika, Daelyn!
♥ My iPad. Come on, without it I wouldn't be able to post my awesome YouTube videos. *Insert sarcastic voice and no laughter here*
♥ Twitter. (There's really no explanation required.)
Well, now it's time to go drink some water and not eat for the rest of the day, since I ate a week's worth of food yesterday. Italian families do that.
(That was a joke.)
(*Sigh*)
(I should just give up trying to be witty because it's not working and I'm failing miserably...)

Just An Update
Why hello there, everyone. :D Sorry I haven't blogged lately...believe it or not, your queen actually has a social life (funny, right?)...yeah, right. More like a mountain of AP Biology homework.
SECOND OF ALL, IF YOU'RE READING THIS (AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) YOU BETTER GET OFF MY BLOG RIGHT NOW BEFORE I THROW ONE OF MY BELOVED PASTRY SNEAKERS AT YOU.
Don't worry, my lovelies. That was aimed at a specific person. And odds are, it probably isn't you. ;-*
But yeah. So today is kinda just an update, because I missed you all. I've been starting my Christmas list, and can you guess what has been making an appearance on that list left and right? Couldn't possibly be the absolutely adorable Dutchess Pie Wedges in black, can it?
Anyway. So, back to my ever-boring life. A good friend and great blogger of mine recently just did an entire rant on how your weight shouldn't matter and you're beautiful either way --> Click here to see it. It was super sweet and totally right, and she hit the nail right on the head. Way to go, Sam! ;D check out her blog here.
*Cricket noises appear from everywhere*
Hmm. Now what else am I supposed to say? School is hard. And of course, dramatic. I'm actually really annoyed right now because I spent at least three days and tons of extra time working on and editing a music video for my YouTube channel, Terrible Things by Mayday Parade. Well, I went onto my editor to erase another extra video I'd made and didn't need anymore.
And woohoo for me, I erased Terrible Things. So now I'm currently too annoyed to start over, and it's dark out, anyway. So the whole beautiful outside scene that took me hours to film is...poof! Gone.
Anyway, Thanksgiving is the day after tomorrow! I know how bad it sounds, but I can't wait for chocolate turkeys and apple pie. Plus, guess who's going to be belting out a beautiful song on the Build a Bear float this year? ;-)

If you need me for some reason on Thanksgiving morning, I'll be curled up on my couch watching this beautiful Australian dreamchild singing his heart out.
And who knows? Maybe I'll even blog that day.
Catch 'ya later!

Recipe: Mini Burger Cookies
These mini burger cookies are just too adorable not to share. So sharing is exactly what I'm going to do! (Inspired by Women's Day: Women's Day Mini Burger Cookie Recipe)
Mini Burger Cookies:
Ingredients:
1. 1/4 cup(s) canned vanilla frosting
2. Yellow, red and green liquid food color
3. 2 tablespoon(s) sweetened shredded coconut
4. 24 vanilla wafer cookies
5. 12 small round Peppermint Patties
Directions:
1. Put 1 Tbsp frosting in a small bowl; add yellow food color to tint yellow. Spoon into a small ziptop plastic bag and cut a tiny tip off one corner. Repeat with red food color. Stir green food color into coconut until coconut is green.
2. Place a small dab of vanilla frosting on flat side of 12 cookies. Top each with a peppermint candy "burger," pressing lightly to adhere. Pipe on yellow and red frosting to resemble mustard and ketchup. Sprinkle with coconut "lettuce," pressing to adhere. Place a small dab of vanilla frosting on flat side of remaining cookies and press, frosting side down, gently on coconut.
That's all there is too it! Pretty easy and cute, huh? I really can't wait to try it! (:

Pros & Cons: Winter
Hey there, everyone! I needed something new to blog about, so I'm doing to do a Pros and Cons of winter. It was inspired by Alli Simpson's blog entry, the pros and cons of going back to school. (www.allisimpson.com) I'm probably going to do more Pros & Cons lists in the future! :-)
So, back to my pros and cons: winter! What do I think is good about it, and what are some cons?
♥ Christmas Trees<3
♥ New Year's! A whole new year to start fresh and completely reinvent yourself, if you felt the need to.
♥ Everyone, even terribly mean people, all feel the holiday spirit!
♥ Trips into the city to go see the tree<33
♥ Comfy sweats and Uggs<3
♥ That last school day right before Christmas break...everyone trading presents and cards, and the whole school is (for once) happy!
(P.S. It's the one year anniversary of my absolute favorite [and sad] song, Evenings in London!!!!! :D :D :D :D Check it out --> Evenings in London)

♥ Sitting in school while the winter weather is beautiful
♥ It's socially unacceptable to wear flip flops.
♥ Snow pants are the most unattractive things known to mankind. Am I right?
♥ Getting colds. Ugh. Stuffy noses are just the worst.
♥ Standing at the bus stop in the mornings in sub zero temperatures.
Well, my lovely readers, I have to go read some more Gossip Girl and waste the rest of my night.

Well, I'm going to get back to reading some ridiculous play that I'm supposed to be reading for English, The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail. Honestly, who cares about this guy going to jail? I sure don't.

My Instagram Rant
Before I begin my rant, I just wanted to let you know that I am currently on a group OoVoo call with three other bloggers: Haley, Amber, and Toni! Here's a quick picture to prove that we're having an awesome Bloggers Meeting:
^[Clockwise] Me, Haley, Amber, and Toni!
So today's blog entry is going to be a rant about Instagram. It'll just be a list the things about Instagram (and the people that use it) that annoy me. But have to fear, some of you guys are pretty decent people. And my fashion website's Instagram is @BeTrueBlue, in case you were looking for someone new to follow. :-)
List of Things I Hate About Instagram
1. Likes Can't Cure Cancer. As much as we wish it were true, posting a picture and saying "1 Like = 1 Prayer For The Cure" won't do a single thing. You should be praying yourself. Not hitting a ♥ button. Because we all know that it won't do anything.
2. Celebrity Posers. I hate posers in general, but posers over Instagram annoy me so much. Especially when they say they're giving away free passes to concerts. Like, no, you're not.
3. Those iPhone Giveaways. YOU ARE NOT GETTING A FREE iPHONE 5 FOR REPOSTING A PICTURE. ANYONE WITH COMMON SENSE KNOWS THAT.
4. The duckface. This requires no description. At all.
5. Disgraceful Pictures. Girls need to attempt to stay classy. And guys need to have chivalry. But that just doesn't happen anymore, does it?
Sorry that this blog was so short! I'm actually going to go help set up my friend Jason's blog, www.when-you-hear-that-voice.blogspot.com. :-)

The Luck of the Non-Irish.
Alright. First off, let me give you the links to three awesome blogs that belong to three of my friends, because if you think this blog is the bee's knees (ohmygosh...), it's nothing compared to these:
http://youreyeshavemehypnotized.blogspot.com/
http://theblogofahaley.blogspot.com/
http://itshardbeingateenagerthesedays.blogspot.com/
Second of all, who here knows how to make your fonts all fancy and loopy? Looks like I'm stuck with this boring Verdana font until I can find a good tutorial that can help me to fix that.
Anyway. Today is kind of like a journal entry kind of day. Honestly, I don't care if nobody reads this blog or it never makes it big. As long as it's out there on the internet for people to see, I'm happy. :-)
Let's all just take a glorious moment to bask in the glory of the fact that I slammed a door on my face and now my left temple is huge and throbbing. *Insert warm glowing light and angels singing*
Yeah. So that was basically it. I'm not Irish, which basically means that I tend to have the worst luck in the world. Now that I think about it, an exact week ago from today, I was on my iPad and it tipped and crashed onto my nose. Cue swollen, bruised nose, the night before I was being a bridesmaid in a wedding, and a very unhappy/unlucky Pastry Queen.
At least it's Friday, and it's a three day weekend! This calls for some Cody Simpson music, Twix bars, sweatpants, fuzzy socks, and some sort of catalog that's selling Pastry shoes this holiday season. (Journeys, maybe? Look at everything they're selling from LovePastry this season! >> http://www.journeys.com/search.aspx?keywords=pastry)
Or, just go to www.LovePastry.com and check out what they have there!
I think I gotta go ice my face again. Sorry that this entry was so short, but I felt that you guys needed another blog entry from your fabulous Pastry Queen, and I never deprive my loyal subjects. :-)

Jessica

Hurricane Sandy
Alright, here comes the long-awaited Hurricane Sandy documentary that I've survived! (The video on my YouTube channel still isn't up yet, and it probably won't be for a little while.)
Okay, so I apologize for how long this blog entry is. Feel free to skip and skim if you aren't big on reading! (But I hope you are!)
Day One
Day One was Monday, October 29th. The sky was cloudy, gray, and rainy all day. The wind was beginning to pick up throughout the day. I spent the entire day with my close friend, Nadine* We watched movies, ate popcorn and drank hot chocolate, and made perfume and scented slime. (Yes, we really WERE bored.) Towards 3-4 pm, some of my friends had texted me and said they'd lost power. I ate dinner, and the wind starting picking up, but nothing had really happened yet. At around 6:30PM, the power went out.
The wind was loud and scary. Nadine had come back over to my house, and so did my neighbor Emily*. I remember standing on my front porch, and all you heard was the roaring wind and police/firefighter sirens. You felt the rain whipping your face and the leaves were flying everywhere. The scariest part was looking at the black sky. The entire block was pitch black, but every few seconds, the sky would light up blue. Another transformer exploded and popped and sparked. It was the absolute scariest thing ever.
So Emily, Nadine, my family and I all texted everyone to see if they were okay, and we spent the night playing charades (quite terribly, to be honest) by candlelight.
Day 2
The next morning, the actual storm had passed. We woke up with no power, but my dad and brother had driven over to my aunt's house and picked up a generator. We hooked it up to the fridge and the Playstation in the basement (*sigh.* Not my decision. I would've preferred hooking up WiFi.). We all went outside to check on neighbors. There had been no major damage, but still no power. Our neighbors put their food in our fridge, since ours was the only one with power.
I spent the day in complete boredom. I wrote, read, and drove down to one of the harder-hit areas nearby and saw the damage. It was terrible...household items soggy and cluttered at the curb...people's entire lives were just laying there, destroyed.
I came back home and basically passed time talking to Nadine. We had no phone service. We could only get phone service if we walked all the way down the block...but that didn't work very well, either. We had no way to make sure that anyone was okay, and no gas stations had gas. However, that night at 6:30PM, our power came back! We were one of the only few blocks that had that privilage.
Throughout That Week
Halloween was the next day. Despite no power, cold temperatures, downed trees and power lines, I dressed up as the Phantom of the Opera, rounded up all of my friends, and went out to go get my candy! I spent the night with my friend Bridgit's* house, and since she had power, we all had a great time. :)
Throughout the rest of the week, gas was a problem. There are STILL lines, but they were even worse. People were starting to clean up the devastation, until...
Day 8
Day 8 of post-Hurricane Sandy is today. It was cloudy and cold this morning, and our middle school lost power during the day, and then got it back. Our high school's lights kept flickering, but we have a darned generator, so we didn't get lucky with a blackout and have to leave school early.
But as I started walking to the bus, it started sleeting! As of right now, it's super windy and we already have a few inches of snow. Seriously, can't the East Coast catch a break? The storm hit a week ago, and now we have this nor'easter.
I'll keep you updated!!
xoxo,
Jessica

Book Review: Gossip Girl
Alright, everyone. Time for my very first book review! I'm going to be reviewing the Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar. :-)
First of all, I absolutely love this series. Like I said, there will always be a special place in my heart for The Hunger Games, but this series may be my second favorite!
At first, I honestly only picked up this book because I was out of reading material and I was in a hurry at the library. I took out the first two books, read them, and instantly wanted to read more. I've been heading to the library every other week and taking out the next three books each time and just reading them! Right now I'm currently reading Would I Lie to You?, which is the 10th book in the series, and there's still tons more to read!
And no, I don't watch the TV show. I was never big on stuff like that, because the shows are always different from the books (and the books, in my opinion, are always much better!).
So, instead of just talking about the first book, I'll review the whole series.
I was never really into the drama kind of stuff, but these characters (Blair, Serena, Nate, Chuck, Kati, Isabel, etc.) just caught my attention. They all have different personalities, but they're all basically extremely rich New York City kids. The adventures and drama that they get themselves into is incredibly interesting. I just can't pull myself away!
Literally. It's like some really bad addiction.
But, yeah. The drama is very, very interesting, and the way that these upper-class kids live make you think a little. You'd think they'd get anything in the world, right? Wrong. You'll have to read the books to find out!
I think that you should be at least 13 to read this series, only because there are some topics discussed that younger kids shouldn't read. You gotta be a little bit mature for this series.
But other than that, the series is really great!
Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to get back to reading Would I Lie to You?
xoxo,
Jessica
